I'm delighted to announce my involvement with the new MA in Bespoke and New Couture, run by the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, in conjunction with Italy's top school for forward thinking couture fashion, Polimoda.
This unique MA, designed and led by fashion educator and maker extraordinaire, Mung Lar Lam,, is one of the worlds first to combine conceptual, contemporary design with heritage artisanal making skills. There are leather work, couture embroidery and tailoring modules...
..Oh, and a passementerie module, for which I am writing and then teaching the content.
The students will be taught on and off the loom passementerie techniques and I will also be delivering lectures on the history of passementerie in fashion, how to design exciting, experimental trimmings for modern couture and fashion garments and other passementerie infused topics.
This MA has now launched and is open to students globally as it is a combination of off- campus virtual learning and the opportunity of on site learning at Polimoda.
